Screenplay
I am in the process of writing the screenplay. When it is finished, I may post it here, but only after I have secured the copyright and registered it with the Writers Guild of America. I believe it would make a good movie for a number of reasons, some of which I’ll list:
It’s based on Homer’s The Odyssey, so critics who have a classical education will enjoy spotting the allusions.
It can be shot relatively low-budget: there are little expensive special effects or settings, it’s basically a modern gangster movie. The movie’s more intense scenes horrify more on a psychological level than as graphically gory.
There seems to be a shortage of good screenplays written with a predominately Latino cast, from a Latino point of view.
It comes with the music: although Dan and I will want to retain copyright to the songs on the album Odiseo, a film maker will be granted permission to use the music anywhere in the movie.
We are also kicking the idea around of enlisting the aid of amateur film makers to create music videos based on the screenplay storyline, sort of as a song-by-song music video pastiche, and posting the best videos on our YouTube channel.
